Dear Reader,
Amidst us, there are people with words so tickling to the ears… Their words have magical healing powers – strong enough to heal broken souls, re-energised weak minds, open eyes, and ears in much positive and rewarding sense. I guess we all need the company of such people.
However, some people are gifted and experienced in using words that can easily drain your energy and vitality. Keeping such people around you is nothing but spoiling your moments. Some of these unpleasant people have categories – others with unbeatable experience, education, and exposure in throwing auditory stimuli that can further torment already struggling minds and souls. Once they open their mouth, they spill venom that runs through the nervous systems to their victims’ hearts and heads.
Just one sentence from a negative person is enough for you to curse the day, become anorexic, develop insomnia and other musculoskeletal and cardiovascular discomforts. You and I certainly do not deserve the company of such homo sapiens.
As we go through life, be it peacefully or painfully (or dosage of both), we are bound to cross paths with people with peaceful or painful melodies, or both. Often, these are people close to us – including but not limited to our spouses, siblings, colleagues, neighbours, business partners, and relatives.
Wait a minute! Don’t you have a choice on the extent to which you consume such melodies? I suppose you do! If any, you have the power to allow no one to hurt you (at least not verbally). Do I make it seem so easy than it is actually in life? Hang on a moment before you judge me on this…
Let’s take some lessons from the audio mixers. Yes, I mean audio mixers used in recording studios, radio stations, discos, public address systems, etc. This ‘funny looking’ and rather complicated device has a lot to offer especially on managing auditory stimuli.
Audio mixers receive several inputs (depending on the number of channels the mixer is designed to take). Interestingly, it welcomes signals from different devices including mobile phones, microphones, guitars, keyboards, pianos, drums, etc – all with varied volumes, signal strengths, and phantom power capabilities. Interestingly, the mixer filters sound, regulates reception signals, and has capacity to mute and reduce volumes as necessary, and as guided by the person behind the controls.
Equally, we receive various auditory signals in life – news of demise of loved ones, scolds by house owners, rejection by loved ones, and uncomfortable texts and voice prompts from former spouse/partner, friends, parents, guardian, relatives, and supervisors – all capable of leaving profound negative impacts directly on us and/or people around us.
How about we adopt the sagacity of audio mixers? A device which controls audio signals, capable of reducing/increasing volume, muting/unmuting, and directing filtered main audio out channels.
If you agree with the audio mixer analogy, then from today, take control over what you hear, and decide on those that inspire and lifts your spirit, and mute people who add no value to your life. Remember if you keep negative people who constantly make noise, they can easily destroy you!
Take control of your life and use your valuable time meaningfully! You are in charge of the controls – mute negative people and avoid negative energy. Find time to enjoy the scent of flowers, listen to the woods, bake the cakes you like, eat and dine with those who reciprocate your love and care, send and receive flowers that keeps you smiling, and sip the flavoured drinks of your choice. You deserve better!
Mute venomous people, and enjoy amplifying melodies that inspire you! Life is too short to go through it dealing with tormentors – not least because you are letting negative people talk you down. You do not need permission to be and to keep happy!
Thank you.
